The Diamond Mine Dugout Club

What is the Diamond Mine Dugout Club?
This is a group through The Diamond Mine that is organized to recognize, promote and
honor baseball and softball players in Western North Carolina. It is made up of coaches,
parents, community groups, corporate sponsors and of course baseball and softball
enthusiasiasts.

How does that happen?
Each week a player of the week will be chosen from around the Western North Carolina
region as the most outstanding player for the past week. These players will be posted on
The Diamond Mine website, listed in the paper and also sent a plaque to their high school
to be presented at school with their name on it and the week that they were named Player
of the Week.

How is a player nominated?
The player’s coach will submit stats each week to The Diamond Mine with a head shot of
the recommended player, and a committee of coaches will vote on the top player of the
week. This player could be a pitcher or a position player but only one player of the week
will be named. The stats will need to be submitted by 12:00 PM on Sunday and a player
will be named on Monday evening.

End of the Year Banquet
The Diamond Mine Dugout Club will take end of the year nominations for The 2012
Dugout Team of the year. This team will consist of 3 pitchers, 2 catchers, 3 outfielders,
5 infielders, 1 utility player, a player of the Year and a Coach of the Year. This team
will be recognized at a formal banquet that will be held in honor of these players with the
parents and public invited.

What else is involved?
Toward the end of the season, nominations will be sent to the committee for The
Diamond Mine Dugout Club All Star game. This game will involve the top seniors from
1A/3A schools against the top seniors from 2A/4A schools. The game will be played at
the first of June.
